The Global Meeting Point of the Iron and Steel Industry

The heart of the iron, steel, and metal products world beat at Metal Expo 2021, held at the Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) between September 29 and October 2, 2021. Emerging as the most critical marketing platform for the industry in the post-pandemic era, the fair gained strategic significance by hosting the “European Green Deal” workshop, held under the auspices of the R.T. Ministry of Industry and Technology. The event, which saw intense participation from industry stakeholders, once again reaffirmed the strength of the Turkish metal industry in the international arena.

Throughout this massive four-day organization, participants had the opportunity to examine the latest production technologies and metal products firsthand. One of the most striking insights from the fair was the visitor demand: Flat products topped the list with a 15.01% interest rate, followed by stainless steel products at 12.93%. Digitalization and sustainability trends in the sector were prioritized as key agenda items during the sessions held throughout the fair.

The organization garnered significant interest on both a local and international scale. Welcoming a total of 6,106 visitors, the fair brought together professionals from 47 different provinces across Türkiye. Outside of Istanbul, the highest participation came from Kocaeli at 28%, with Ankara and Izmir standing out as other prominent provinces in sectoral representation. On the international front, representatives from 38 different countries attended, with Iran, Mongolia, and Syria recording the highest visitor rates.
